Guess Who Came to Big Fish?!
On July 24, 2016 I went to see the play Big Fish at the Madison Street Theatre in Oak Park IL.
Billy Surges is the Director. He also played Karl the Giant, a humorous character. Katie Meyers, with a beautiful singing voice, was one of the female lead characters, Sandra Bloom. The other female was the lovely and talented actress Aiyanna Wade as Josephine.
Big Fish is about Edward Bloom, who always tells stories about great adventures which include meeting a witch, kissing a mermaid and joining the circus. Edward's son, Will, never believed any of this father's stories. As Edward becomes, ill, Will wants to know the truth about the stories. In the end, you should accept people as they are.
After the play, we hung out in the lobby of the theatre to visit with the performers. My friend Katie approached me to see if I recognized someone in the crowd. She asked, "who is the main character on The Big Bang Theory besides Sheldon?"
I said "Leonard", and she said "would you like to meet him?"
I felt like I was going to faint!!! Johnny Galecki was there!!!
"I can't believe this is happening to me!!!"
I could have talked to him for hours. I told him that I am a big fan of his work. He took off his glasses for the photo, he put his arm around me for the photo. He made me feel like I was a really good friend of his. Which of course made me very happy.
Trivia Time: Johnny Galecki was born in Belgium and actually raised in Oak Park. He is 41 years old. He was attending the play with his mom. He was an actor as a child and continues acting as Leonard Hofstadter, Ph.D., on The Big Bang Theory.
