2016 - Going Back in Time
With several friends and Aurora Police Officers, I collected donations for Special Olympics! 1994 - birth of a salesman, me! Since I'm a good salesman, I got people to donate! It was enjoyable! What a great night, I remember it well, collecting more donations for Special Olympics charity benefit. It was very sunny! I was in and out of the restaurant, working with the Aurora Police Officers. I saw my father go past me on his bike. There were a lot of customers in Culver's t
Two Down, Many to Go
The FVSRA Silver Stars versed WDSRA last night in basketball. WDSRA won by 10 points. I played a lot of great defense and I made a basket! Mack made the first and the last baskets of the game. There were some issues with the scoreboard at the beginning of the game, so a volunteer used a whiteboard and markers to keep track of the score. We were trailing but made a pretty good comeback, although we did not win. We got lots of baskets in a row. I knew some people on the other
Basketball Blues
The Silver Stars basketball team had its first game! On the team we have: me, Caitlin, Randy, Heidi, just to name a few. Coach John is once again our coach, second year in a row. We played against the Gold Stars, more of an aggressive team. Both teams are with Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA). There were a few memorable plays that come to mind. On the team I'm known as AK. I played some really good defense, but only in the last 4 minutes of the game. Alex

New Activities
SWIMMING I do 3 swimming classes: one at Rush-Copley on Thursdays at 5pm; the other two are at the Vaughan Center on Fridays. The Vaughan Center classes are Water Walkers and a regular swim lesson. Water Walkers is like the name says - we exercise in the pool using barbells made of styrofoam. We walk, run, jog. The water is about 3 feet deep whereas my regular swim class at Vaughan varies but is usually 3-6 feet deep. The regular swim lesson at Vaughan Center is pretty cool

Start of the Season!
Basketball season is just starting. You can tell because the NBA started playing a few weeks ago. And not only that, but our Special Olympics team started practicing too. Two of the players dropped out but the remaining players are still on the team, although we haven't heard who is on what team just yet, me, Caitlin and Randy will be on the same team, hopefully with coach John. We did drills at practice. Shooting is my favorite drill. I don't like stretching and warming

Do You Have What It Takes?
Special Olympics has a leadership program called Global Messenger. You go for training for 2 days, 3 nights. We went to Bloomington-Normal, IL. There were presentations by the trainers (PowerPoint). There were people I knew there, there were about 25 or 30 total athletes there. Each athlete had to make a speech of about 2 - 3 minutes. I planned some of the speech ahead of time, but worked on it at the hotel using PowerPoint. We practiced the speeches the night before and the

Bye Bye Birdie Experience
On June 5, 2016, I performed in 2 shows of Bye Bye Birdie playing Albert. This is the second time that I have played an older character. He's the President of his own music company in New York City. This production was a huge success!!! In this photo, we have Katie, me, MaryAnn and Jack in the foreground. In the background we see Billy (Sound & Lighting) and Ryan with his mom. In this next photo, we have Mrs. Peterson, my mother, played by Elisabeth, and me. Here we have me

Elvis Presley Thoughts and Theories
There are many people who think that Elvis faked his own death. I think that could be possible. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that he is still alive. In you search the Internet, there are many web sites dedicated to the Immortal King himself, with stories of sightings and videos showing him still walking around various locations. I even heard a story claiming he was seen in Kalamazoo, Michigan, working in a donut shop. That's a long way from Graceland! Elvis became wi

Achoo!
It's allergy season ... and they're a drag! My eyes are red and itchy, my nose is stuffed up like a jammed water sprinkler, my brain is tired and I can't concentrate. Are any of you allergy sufferers? If so, you know what I mean. Here are a few things I do to try and feel better: Blow my nose! Take a hot bath and/or shower! Take an Allegra D! Use eye drops! Drink warm liquids: tea, coffee, etc.! Drink juice! Make sure I get enough sleep. If you know of any tricks that work
